Society

The Society exclusively and solely pursues non-profit aims and purposes by supporting the professional training of European lawyers and interested others in the field of European and international law. The Society intends to advance the knowledge and comprehension of European and international law and of the national laws of the countries of origin of its members by organising lectures, issuing essays and comments, organising meetings and conferences, initiating and supporting legal academic work and by supporting the professional interchange of lawyers, particularly by facilitating the co-operation between legal professionals from the countries of its members.
Within this framework the Society can also deal with other legal systems.

The Society is neutral as to any political or confessional orientation.

Membership

  • Individuals as well as legal entities can become members of the European Law Society, as far as they accept the aims and goals of the Society and if they have their domicile or seat or perform their activities within the European Union or in a country which has a connection with the European Union. Individuals should have any kind of legal education.

  • Currently, the annual membership fee is EUR 180.00 (from 01.01.2015).

  • Membership applications are received, examined and adjucated upon by the board. If the board refuses a membership application the subsequent general members' meeting will decide upon written request of the applicant.

  • The membership is terminated by a written declaration of retirement which has to be addressed to the board. In such cases the membership is terminated immediately, however, the retirement does not absolve the retiring member from the payment of the annual membership fee for the current fiscal year.
